Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I found room on the side of the road due west of the peak, not far up Mill Brook rd in Stark. There’s a sign saying residential traffic only (mud season?) but I didn’t go too far up. It’s in decent shape, no ruts.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None. Just small springs flowing and a few avoidable wet spots.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The jar was full of water, needs replacing. The fire warden’s shack is holding up well despite the holes in the roof.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Some areas are quite steep and I needed my hands.
Bugs
Bugs: No issues but they’re out.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: No

Comments
Comments: I did a 3 mile triangle loop heading due east up the west ridge, descending southwest, with a road walk back. I enjoyed the steep ridge up with large boulders covered with ferns, it was more interesting than the route I took down. (It coincidentally was a NF boundary blazed in red, but didn’t line up with my gps map). I figured I’d try a different route down since it didn’t take long to get up there, and the traffic noise was very noticeable on the west side. Some steep spots both ways, and whippy trees on the lower parts, but a cool little summit for not much effort. Less than 2 hours round trip.
