The trail had packed snow above the A-Z trail requiring spikes, at minimum. Snowshoes really wouldn't have helped because the monorail (yes, I'll call it monorail) is both solid but also higher and narrower than the surrounding trail. There was the remains on three inches of new snow that obscured the trail. I lost the trail coming down A-Z and spent 20 minutes staring at my GPS to get back to it. I was in front of 2 groups of five. I hope they didn't follow my meandering. |
