Good hiking and great views today. Surprisingly, the trails were mostly dry with wetness here and there, but there was running water on Carter Dome trail heading up to the Zeta pass junction and some running water on North Carter trail and less than usual wetness on 19MB, now the AT (detour). There were some mostly avoidable snow patches up high, with stable monorail in places. The last 0.4 miles of Zeta pass up to Carter Dome was stable monorail which is the only place we used spikes.
There were a few hikers were out today. Nice chatting with and hiking some Grandma Hiker Maria and congrats to Jim now over the hump with #24, 25 and 26 and a 52WAV as a bonus. |
