Comments: Scaur ridge in great shape, almost all dry, minor mud. This is such a nice trail. A few blowdown however some were cleared on descent. There was a forest service truck at the North Slide junction. You don't see that very often. Thank you Forest Service. There was one big beech that I had to clamber up, through, and over on the way up. Didn't miss that on the way down.
Pine Bend heading up the north peak was a mess of blowdown. This includes one that is right where the trail turns sharp left so you can't see the turn. The work around is new and you end up going under the trunk and through the limbs of the spruce tree. This is confusing, on my way down I heard voices in the woods here and was met by a nice lady who had been off in the woods searching for the trail.
There was also lots of new blowdown going down North Tri on the way to Middle. They all had been there long enough for each to have a go around path. These were not that confusing as the path didn't have a sharp turn under the spruce tree. What a day to forget your saw. Middle Tri wasn't as bad. "All the work arounds probably added a half mile to the hike".
On the return, it started lightly raining a third of the way down the steeps below the north summit, just to add a little extra spice to the descent. This trail is an eroded mess without the blowdown. It kept raining all the way back to my truck but it actually kept me cool on a humid day.
