Dog-Related Notes

Comments
Comments: Very typical spring trail conditions this week. There were a few times on the trail that I had to double check I hadn't accidentally wandered up a stream - all the rain this weekend gave us some nice running water on the trails. The mud wasn't too bad, easy enough to avoid or solid enough to walk through without sinking. A few patches of snow/lingering monorail near the top, but nothing requiring spikes. I imagine this will be gone in the next week or two.

Overall, one of the easiest 4k's I've done! Very gradual start - I kept waiting for it to get hard! Last 0.15 mile was steep and slippery from the rain, but not too bad if you took your time. I found it harder going down on the slick rocks. My day started out sunny for the first two miles, then I was socked in at the top. The wind was whipping and I had no summit views, but I honestly didn't mind that much; the hike was easy enough that I didn't feel like I had really earned it!
