 | Comments: |
There are many stretches of trail with running water uphill of the second crossing of Hale Brook. The water is shallow. Otherwise, all surfaces were wet from all the recent rains. There was a bit a spotty slushy ice at the highest elevations (no traction required). The evergreens at the high elevations were coated in ice that was in the process of melting.
The highlight of the hike were the gushing cascades below and above both crossings of Hale Brook. In the dry season, the waterways are unremarkable.
Since it was so cloudy, I opted to hike Mt Hale today because it offers restricted views at best.
Hikers from NH, MA, and ONT were among those on the trail. |
