Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Both crossings on Avalon were almost impossible without wet feet (I made it up but didn't even try on the way down), poles and hands and climbing helped! Crossings on A-Z were also raging but narrow enough to rock hop carefully.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Lots of blowdowns along Willey range, many removed or made easier to climb over/under, all passable.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: My dog handled a very wet day amazingly

Comments
Comments: Today was a bit of a nightmare despite the gorgeous beauty everywhere! The icy trees! The vibrant moss! Overnight temps and freezing rain/snow iced over the trees on the top cone of Field and some of Willey, so it was a fast dash through the areas where candy-bar to tennis ball sized ice was falling around me. Spruces between Field and Willey were a car wash. I expected wet rocks, but the massive pools of water were a special bonus. 90% of the trail from Field to A-Z jcn was a 4-6" river (it seemed like all the monorails of snow may have just melted like yesterday), but I was already soaked. Tom Spur was everyday typical post-rain spring conditions with smaller pools of water and wet rocks only, so it felt like a vacation after crossing over Field and Willey! I'd wait a bit before hiking these peaks - and if you go soon, hike up Avalon to Field & Willey first, rather than A-Z to get the steepest parts done and the worst conditions over first.
