Trail Maintenance Notes: A number of the bridges over the smaller streams have issues, broken logs, one was partially washed out. Overall though the trail is in good shape. Somebody went through with a saw and cut through most of the blow downs.

Comments
Comments: A wet and snowy day. Rain all day below 2800ft, then changed over to snow. There was about 2-3 inches of snow at the Gale head hut when I left. Fortunately, it was the wet sticky kind so footing wasn't too much of an issue on the Garfield ridge trail. I bear booted all the snowy sections (mainly upper .3 miles of Gale River and Garfield Ridge) Not sure micro spikes would help all that much but never a bad thing to have them. The trail below 2800 feet is very wet, there were multiple times I was hiking up a briskly flowing stream bed. Saw one other person out to get her 36th 4K. Take care on those larger steam crossings the rivers are raging!
