Comments
Comments: I didn't leave the house until I could see Lafayette, about 9 am. Parked at Old Man Viewing and walked down the bike path and under the highway to the original old man viewing pull off on North side of parkway. Followed herd path up to Greenleaf. Some dry rocks and mostly water on the trail. Good ice to be found on trail in Eagle Pass. Lots of water running in trail. Saw two guys running down and I passed a couple. Greenleaf Hut is open and jolly crew was nice while I enjoyed a glass of water. From the hut to treeline was lots of water and slush and snow. I wore a T-shirt all the way to treeline but above treeline it was chilly and the wind fierce and I layered up. Amazed by people in sneakers and trail runners, some wore spikes-- all said they had wet feet. I love my boots my feet were happy. Snow got deeper and packed as higher on the mountain. Maybe 8 inches near the top. Lots of people out. I stood on the summit and was in awe at the black stripe the Black Dyke made on Cannon Cliff, light was perfect. On my back down lots of people in summer clothing headed up, people are tough.
