Water Crossing Notes: The 3 water crossings were no problem. Easy to rock hop.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The trail was in great shape regarding blow downs. Very muddy which was expected.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: We had a sweet dog in our group of 5. She had no issue with the water crossings and did well on the steep slab sections. Met three other dogs along the trail.
Bugs
Bugs: The day started off cool, in the 40’s. No bugs. The last 2 miles in the afternoon, the black flies were becoming annoying with the temperature in the 60’s.

Comments
Comments: It was a beautiful, sunny day for the Kinsmans. All the snow had melted. The rocks were wet and there was a lot of mud and water on the trail, but overall much better than expected.

We took the detour to Bald Peak on the ascent, and it was a beautiful spot with great views. Seeing the remaining snow on Franconia Ridge added to the beautiful view from the summits of North and South. For a holiday, it wasn’t crowded.
