Car spotted at Wildcat and Nineteen Mile to save ourselves from a three mile road walk. Plenty of spots in both places. |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Easy bridge crossings on Nineteen Mile Brook Trail. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
So many blowdowns on Wildcat Ridge Trail. Thanks to the trail maintainer who got in recently to take care of the smaller ones. We managed to get over, under or through all the big ones (too many to count). Lots of standing water and mud on the Ridge Trail as well |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw one dog in a backpack. He looked pretty comfortable. |
|
 | Bugs: |
Some bugs at the start. We got bombarded (gnats, black flies, mosquitoes, you name it) all the way from Wildcat summit platform, down the ski slope and to the parking lot. Bring bug net and lots of bug spray if you’re going up or down polecat. |

Weather was amazing today…temps in low 70s at end of hike. We were prepared to see snow about 3000 feet, but aside for some small patches, snow from the weekend has already melted. Microspikes went for a ride. That said, the trails are very wet with lots of mud and pine needles making travel quite slippery. Make sure your boots have good treads for the Wildcat Ridge Trail. We slipped up and down a few of the scrambles.
Stop at Carter Notch Hut was lovely and worth the 0.6 mile detour. Caretaker was out but we enjoyed our lunch inside the hut, refilled water bottles and used the restrooms. |
