Summer conditions for the first three miles to just past the Alpine Garden Trail junction. Above here, until the upper Tuckerman Ravine Trail junction, there are a couple of snowfields, but with warm temperatures, it was easy to navigate without microspikes. If it were colder, I would have worn rock spikes. The last half mile had slippery snow that was packed down and choppy, along with some minor drifting that you would punch through. There are enough rocks around to rock hop to avoid most of the snow, and a decent amount probably melted today.
Quiet morning on Washington with no wind and very warm early in the morning. |
