Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Crossed the brook 8 times total with no deep water at any of the crossings, and came away with only soggy lightweight hiking shoes/socks both up and down. Wet rocks were, as always, attention-getting but no extra traction was needed, although on the descent I used my pole diligently.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: No detours thanks to the few relevant fallen trees being cut, a few blazes at the crossings were initially ambiguous to me but that's probably because this was my first time on this trail. No other dirt/mud issues, and a BIG THANKS to the crew who methodically carved notches in a couple of stepped sections, whenever that happened. Only downside to the day were the multiple clods of tissue paper I saw littered alongside the trail, as well as several scraps of orange peel (you know - the stuff that takes over six years to decompose) tossed in the brook and dumped again in some Alpine shrubbery near the summit. So what else is new - 86 all littering!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: One pooch on leash, he/she/they stopped by for a quick pat.
Bugs
Bugs: Bugs? What bugs? Only on my windshield...
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Just the litter.

Comments
Comments: Great midweek day for the first big hike of 2025, no bugs swarming/biting at all and the trail and summit were sparsely populated, <15 people at a time. Most of the folks I met were doing all or most of the Ridge which made me envious, but having only packed enough nutrition for the day I used good judgement and declined invitations to tag along to Lafayette, something I definitely wouldn't have done 10/20/30/40 years ago. No visibility issues, clear and sunny panorama views for 720 degrees, because I turned around twice.
