Date of Hike: Wednesday, May 28, 2025
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parking lot was full at noon, so we parked on the road with several others.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All hoppable
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Virtually no issues except for a few overhanging branches. A bit of standing water/mud close to the summit but it was fairly minor.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: A few perky pups. Good day for dogs!
Bugs
Bugs: They’re out. Black flies were swarming by our car so we applied strong bug spray, which kept them from biting but not from swarming. They cleared up as we ascended but were numerous at the summit, though we were still able to stay up there for 30 minutes with spray and hooded shells. Not too bad on the way down until we were about half a mile from the lot.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Several objects had been left at the parking lot sign: gloves, reading glasses, and unfortunately I can’t remember the others.

Comments
Comments: Aside from being a little buggy, this was a warm, sunny, perfect day for a hike. We left later in the day and the summit was totally empty by the time we got there. The trail was in overall excellent shape and had mostly dried up from the previous rains, except for a bit of standing water toward the summit. A few overhanging trees required ducking. Wear good boots, though, as there was still decent runoff on the slabs and sticky tread made us a lot more comfortable.
