so. much. blowdown. the worst of it was between the Imp campsite and North Carter, including a spot about .3 south of the campsite that had several 12" trunks strewn across the trail like toothpicks. |

Plenty of black flies. I clearly had a different experience than the other report on the Carters today....they were everywhere at high elevations. Not as bad down low. |

Full send today on the Carter-Moriah traverse. Opted to run the 7 miles downhill between trailheads rather than stick out a thumb. C-M up to Moriah is in great shape. Couple bigger blowdown that have been "cleaned up" just before the summit. The mayhem starts shortly after the Imp campsite. Several areas of huge blowdown. And then it just continues all the way across the ridge to Carter Dome. Otherwise, these trails are in great shape. Mud and water in the typical spots, but pretty dry for the most part. |
