Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Ravine Lodge Road has also had significant improvements since my last visit. It is back to great shape after taking a beating this winter and early spring. A significant amount of material was added, graded, and compacted. The drainage swale has also seen an incredible amount of work, and they where actively hydroseeding the area yesterday
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant

Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Gorge Brook Trail has seen significant work in the last few weeks and is almost completely cleared of any obstacles. There are a few blowdowns remaining, but from what it was from my last visit is leaps and bounds better. Of note, more stepping stones have been added around the last sure water turnoff which has been a problem spot with mud and thus trail creep, nice!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: Thiccccc on the road at car, but not noticeable on the trip up or summit. There is usually an ground bee nest right at the final blue blaze (to the left of the step its on) but nothing witnessed flying around last night

Comments
Comments: A FINE day in the forest was had. This saunter on 603 day finished my "Every Calendar Day" 4k list, for 366. We had a great group of folks show up for this after work trek. There is a severe overlap in the cast of characters from prison work release as well as state psychiatric ward. We found great conditions through the trip. The trails are still moist from a month of rain but should improve in the coming days. An odd day in which it did NOT rain. 60s, a light breeze, and virtually no bugs on trail. Was lovely to see Charlie, Nancy, and Hiker Ed on the road. Canadian wildfire smoke was prevalent. The most amazing thing about this time of year is even with a 1630 start, no headlamp nation! Of note, as a land surveyor and hundreds of trips up this summit, I finally found a carved stone mentioned in "The Moosilaukee Reader, Volume 4; Moosilauke! After The Ice"
