 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Major mud crossing right at the beginning of Kearsarge North Trail. Tree branches laid through water to balance on and cross the mud. Look for balance poles at each end to help. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trail split for Bartlett Mountain needs to be made obvious. Someone had blocked the trail sending you up Kearsarge North. There needs to be a sign, or paint on the rocks indicating a trail intersection. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Good hike for dogs other than the mud at the beginning. No water (or extremely little) along the way. |
|
 | Bugs: |
Mosquitos down low, black flies above (although not too bad) |

 | Comments: |
Trail starts with a long section of mud/water to traverse over logs. That's the worst part of the whole trail. Gradual incline for most of the trail, with slabs near the split in the trail. Watch your trail map closely, as people had put a log across the trail to Bartlett Mountain. I'm sure a well meaning person who was going to Kearsarge North did it to help people going there - not realizing there is another trail and mountain to reach. Views from Bartlett are spectacular. This should be a 52 WAV. Keep going past the peak sign and follow the trail for another 1/10th or 2 out to the ledges and down to the right a bit for the big wide open rocks. Wonderful places to sit and have lunch. |
