Terrific afternoon hike - about 1.5 hours to do the Old Dicey Rd -> Carter Gibbs loop over Oregon. This is definitely the best route to Oregon - going up the steeps and down the beautiful ledges. From Oregon to the car there was the constant noise of 2 helicopters, sometimes overhead, stalled, feeling that they were looking at us - not sure what was going on but looked like some kind of search. Sometimes the choppers were right overhead... kinda gave us a sinking feeling. Anywho, great afternoon!!! On our way back we parked at the junction with the Lower Manning trail and hiked to the first river crossing to Welton falls and decided we'd rather go to Shacketts for beer than try to cross river which was pretty high :) |
