Comments: Out&Back Route

Carter Moriah Trail- some wet rock section on slabs, mostly dry otherwise with nothing notable but a single blowdown to get around. The trail to Shelburne Moriah - Kenduskeag, is a wild ride of major blowdowns, the shrubs like to hug the trail so your choice if you want arms covered.. definitely this section has a mix of mud/standing water, wet boards, open rock faces are dry & nothing concerning for safety. Beautiful section when you break the trees from this direction. Bugs were surprisingly tame, nothing nippy- little swarms in some muddy areas, to be expected.

If you like a good obstacle course & want to “section hike the AT” to add a 52wav to your 48 hike, go for Kenduskeag route!!
