Trails: New Greenough Pond Road, Larry Brook Road, bushwhack
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Friday, June 13, 2025
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Easy drive in - even with a low clearance car. We parked at the large pullout just before the removed bridge. This is where we parked and started our whack (more like road walk) to Greenough Pond Peak as well. One could easily combine the two peaks in the same day - returning to the parking area between the two hikes.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Larry Brook Road Bridge is gone. Water is more than knee deep, but we found logs to use about 25 yards to the south. Feet stayed dry.

Comments
Comments: We walked .9 miles from the parking area on Larry Brook Road. The road was dry/nice. The missing bridge is only about 100 yards beyond the parking area. This may seem a little far to stay on the road, it is tempting to cut in sooner, but it made for a very gentle pitch on the bushwhack - no cliffs as others have reported. We began the bushwhack in a NW direction for about .17 miles. We hit an east/west road/herd path that we took WSW for about 50 yards to attain the ridge. Then we headed NNE - generally right at the peak. We found another road/herd path along the way. Easily found the canister and returned the same way. Our Black Lab loves to lead us out when we want to retrace our steps. 2.97 miles, 538' elevation.
