Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: A few stream crossings, all pretty easy to rock hop.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: 4-5 Trees down on Brook Trail. All easy to step over except one which is a diagonal. Low branches have been removed, but with a pack you will need to almost get on hands and knees to go under.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Chocorua is not the most dog friendly mountain. Lots of big rocks/boulders to scale. Saw one large athletic husky. I would not take a dog on Brook Trail. Very steep slabs.
Bugs
Bugs: Mosquitos down low, but ok if you keep moving. A few black flies on top.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Hiking boots found in a tree at the parking lot. Put by the trail sign.

Comments
Comments: Loop Clockwise. Do NOT go down Brook Trail! There is a very steep section of ledge that would be near impossible to go down. Up is ok. You will need hands and feet. Markers are fine until you hit the ledges/slabs. Most are pretty obvious where the trail goes, but the big one with no clues - stay to the right. Chocorua views are stunning. Brook Trail is scenic, and relatively flat until you cross a good size stream. The up really starts then. Came down Liberty. Overall a much easier trail, although lots of mud. Far more mud. But if you're not up for scaling ledges, take Liberty instead.
