Quick Up/Down via Rocky Branch and 2 bushwhacks (mini-Engine Hill BW to cut the corner between RB and Iso trail, then Iso Express). 35 minutes faster than 3 weeks ago, mostly in the Iso Exp BW I think. Got the total distance down to 11.25 miles. Iso was tougher to follow the herd path in the first half as there are more ferns now. Wouldn't try it if I didn't have the GPS track. Hiker a couple of minutes ahead of me saw a large moose by the Presidential Range boundary sign, I never saw him. Still lots of water on Rocky Branch, especially when you are heading down towards the RB river where the trail is mostly a stream but there are lots of rocks to hop down. |
