Iron mountain road is very steep, rough, and narrow. AWD or 4WD and mid-high clearance strongly recommended. Recent trail report said they did it in a tesla-so it is doable in low clearance, but could not have been fun! |

Hats off to the masterminds behind the trail relocation. Gentle switchbacks and a soft footbed was greatly appreciated. First five minutes through the two fields is tight/brushy=ticks! |

Great short, easy dog hike. We determined that this would be Fin’s final hike in the Whites. She was struggling hard yesterday on the Willey Range and it is only a short matter of time before she hurts herself if she doesn’t retire from strenuous hikes and rough terrain:( |

Black flies were voracious from parking lot onwards. Kids got hammered when bug nets weren’t on. Picked up three ticks in field at beginning. Probably more on Fin I’m guessing. |

Awesome, easy cool down hike on the newly relocated trail for James’ 46/52WAV after yesterday’s Tom/Field/Avalon. Best views are still 60 seconds from parking lot! What an incredible view from that field!!! We had to skip the ledges and mines today (and Willey yesterday) because poor old Fin (11.5) is finally showing her age.Anybody who has raised a puppy and had them be their primary mountain companion for countless hours and miles knows how brutal it is to retire them from the trails. Her tail was wagging all day yesterday and today but she is wrecked and had some pretty ugly stumbles/missteps:( |
