Bugs
Bugs: OMG! 6/25 was insane up on the ridge. Everyone at Greenleaf Hut looked like they had measles or something. No-see-ums and black flies I think. Some AT-section hikers (NB from Dalton, MA) said it was their worst day of bugs in New England.

Comments
Comments: Luckily 6/25 was hot but nothing like the 100+ in Boston on 6/24. A very sweaty hike with my 14-year-old up to the Ridge. Even the ridge was fairly hot when the breeze wasn't blowing. The bugs showed up suddenly at the junction to the Shining Rock and didn't really let up until after dark at Greenleaf. They were still around on 6/26 but not nearly as bad. Lots of red bumps and blood but not itching, which I guess is no-see-ums.
