Gridded out June and finished round 9 today. Rocky Branch is its normal streamy muddy mess of a delight. Engine hill is very swampy at the beginning has a lotta ferns in the glades so tried to stay in the woods on the top edge of the glades. Came out right below the crossing for iso express which we struggled mightily to stay on in both directions. We angled a viewpoint too far to the north so we wandered up in some semi-open, semi-thick woods and popped out on the next knob north of the top end on Davis Path. Had the summit to ourselves for awhile, also no presi summit views, mega boo!! Well established at the top of Iso express, almost a herd path and we stayed on it until the view knob at 3400' then angled to far to the north and came out at the impact tent site on Iso East. Tried our hand at the tri-corner whack which is semi followable at the bottom and once again lost it about 1/8mi from Rocky Branch and wandered around in the swamp for awhile. Cruised down once we found the actual trail. A fun muddy day, no moose found, so many accomplishments!! |
