Date of Hike: Sunday, June 29, 2025
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: As mentioned in another report- if people park head-in/back-in to either side of the lot, many more cars can fit in the lot than if people just pull straight up to the kiosk. Also worth noting- you don't need to leave 5 feet between your vehicle and the one next to it! Think of the distance you leave between you and the car next to you at the grocery store and try to emulate that
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Water levels were quite low, easy to rock-hop across a few different routes right at the trail crossing today
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: This was a trip for trail maintenance. Cleared a few minor blowdowns that came down since my last visit, cleared the remaining drainages I didn't get to on my last trip, and put in a few new ones to help get water off the trail instead of running down it! At +/-4000ft, there was a dead tree who's roots were forming some semblance of steps up a steep spot. Unfortunately, that tree apparently got uprooted and knocked over, leaving a loose dirt scramble. I did put a few rocks in place to improve the footing somewhat, but rock steps are going to be the real fix for that situation and I had neither the time nor the correct tools with me on this trip.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Only saw one all day (Buttercup!) but saw a handful of fresh tracks in the last mile or so on my way out
Bugs
Bugs: A few buzzing around while I was stationary, but overall not too bad. Non-issue while in motion.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Found an empty Powerade bottle at about 3900' and an empty Busch can at the kiosk. Pack it in, pack it out!

Comments
Comments: A lovely day spent in the forest. Had a great conversation with MJo on the way up, and a number of other hikers passing by as I was working!
