Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: I am very sad to report that the Baldface Circle Trail (from the lower junction to North Baldface) and the Meader Ridge Trail are in quite a sorry state. There are 9 significant, obstructing blowdowns and innumerable smaller blowdowns. Most of the obstructing blowdowns have destructive herd paths around them, but one is in an awkward spot so you have to go under it, through a mud puddle. Awesome. Both of these trails are very overgrown, and I had some route finding difficulties below the North Baldface summit because the trail is so grown in. The drainages are full to overflowing. By contrast the Mount Meader Trail is in excellent shape.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: My dog had a scrambly good time on this challenging route!
Bugs
Bugs: Nope. Yay for wind!

Comments
Comments: We hiked up the Baldface Circle Trail, out to North Baldface, and then back over to Eagle Crag. We continued along the ridge to Mount Meader and hiked down the Mount Meader Trail to 113. Then it was a short roadwalk. I picked this route to maximize the views given today’s forecast, to strategically try to find something that was not mobbed on this gorgeous holiday, and to have fabulous footing for the descent. We definitely got the views, we saw just 4 people on the trails, and the footing on the Mount Meader Trail is cushiony happiness. 11.8 miles, 3350’ of gain. I definitely recommend this!
