Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Found a spot on the edge of the lot at 10 and there were only a few cars parked on the road. Surprised it wasn't busier.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All easy hops.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The trail with the greatest need of attention is Eagle Cascade Link. Numerous obstructing blowdowns with some being difficult to navigate are the main issue, but see notes below for additional comments. One of the blowdowns happens to be one of the trees with a blaze. As reported elsewhere, there are also a number of blowdowns on Baldface Circle between North Baldface and Emerald Pool, but we didn't think they were particularly difficult to get around.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Unless your dog is really nimble, I'd advise taking Slippery Brook to avoid the worst of the ledges. We've done it both ways and Slippery Brook is definitely the better choice for dogs. Ours was the only one on the trail today.
Bugs
Bugs: Almost none.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Near the end there was a pair of underwear in the middle of the trail. Needless to say, we left it there...

Comments
Comments: In addition to the blowdowns on Eagle Cascade Link, it didn't look like anyone had been through that way in awhile so there was a deep layer of leaves that not only made the trail a little slippery in spots, but also made it tough to follow when there wasn't a blaze visible (as noted above, one of the blazes is now a blowdown).

Great day to be out. Weather was almost perfect and there were almost no bugs. Haven't done this one in almost a decade. It's interesting to see what's changed in that time. Definitely more grown in. We were surprised it wasn't busier given the holiday weekend. We really didn't see all that many people. I'll have some pics and vids up soon on Instagram at quantum.moxie.
