 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
At the new trailhead at Tamarack Green Recreation in Easton. This is a fee lot (details on kiosk) on private land. There are 18 designated spaces and no overflow parking. The overall space in the lot seems tight but maybe it's just me. Just be careful backing out. |

Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |

|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
No issues. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Things are in great shape bottom to top on Mt. Kinsman Trail and Bald Peak Spur. The spur path down to the flume is becoming overgrown in spots. Button Fern is a new trail in the works on Tamarack property. It's been laid out, blowdowns have been cleared, and drainages have begun to be dug, but it's still pretty rough. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
I saw three very happy and chill dogs with their humans. |
|
 | Bugs: |
They weren't too bad until I got onto Button Fern on the way down. Then the black flies were swarming. |

 | Comments: |
I made an early morning trip up to Bald Peak to get some notes for the 52WAV book (Bald Peak is now on the 52WAV list), and to see the trailhead and parking changes for myself. Aside from the new parking and lower half mile of Mt. Kinsman Trail, the overall route is unchanged.
Ground conditions were mainly dry but there was also some minor mud around and the spur to Bald Peak also had some wet ledge.
There was a stiff breeze on top that was perfect for keeping the bugs away and for drying out my back from the humidity. Come on, October! I saw a few folks as I was heading up but traffic was steadier as I was on the way down mid-morning. |
