 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Thank you to whomever was recently out with a rake, saw and axe. Your hard work is much appreciated! |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
My dog did great on this trail and she seemed to like it more without the unstable monorail. Me too, Echo! |
|
 | Bugs: |
Egads. They were chomping away at the humans in the first 0.5 miles of the trail. |
|
 | Lost and Found: |
There is a pair of soaking wet socks on the Starr King fireplace. They were a bit too gross for me to pack out. |

It’s not just worsening of the two culverts, it’s also a series of really choppy super-deep potholes with raised edges. It was all SUVs at the trailhead … and one Honda Civic. That was a brave person. My Subie Crosstrek had trouble with the potholes and I don’t think I would brave this again in my car. Yay for the winter lot as an option!
This was a great pick for a humid, potentially soggy day, with possible thunderstorms. You know that you chose wisely when you see hiking legends! First I saw Postal Patty and we had a nice long catch up chat. 4 grids, with the current one an over-65? Postal Patty is my hero! Then we saw Van, Rick and one of their friends - my it has been a while since I have seen Van!! His hiking stats are also quite impressive!! The phrase of the day, by the way, is “Get the TURP!!”
As for the trail (LOL) it was drier and less muddy than you would expect … except for just below Waumbek where there were stretches of mud that seemed out of place. |
