 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Roadside parking at the trailhead on Mt. Prospect Rd. in Holderness. The landowner requests a six car limit. When I arrived a little after noon I was #6. When I returned at 2:30 there were 14 (!!!) vehicles parked along the road. Not cool. This is the kind of stuff that endangers public access to private land for everyone. (Also, three of the vehicles that were there when I arrived had large empty bike racks. I did not see any riders but did see evidence of recent bike traffic in muddy areas. The trails here are posted as foot traffic only.) |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
No issues. The section that has been relocated off the old carriage road is really well done with great footing and easy grades thanks to switchbacks. |

 | Bugs: |
A few were flitting about but they weren't too bad. I didn't need the anti-bug measures today. |

 | Comments: |
After an appointment in Plymouth I popped in here for a hike as I hadn't been here since the landowner made things a bit more "formal" (parking limit, kiosk/map, signage).
No views today as the top of the mountain was in a cloud but of course the sun came out as I was heading down. I used a few of the unnamed trails for the descent and they led me past some neat natural features. Beautiful!
Trails were damp from the morning rain on the way up but were drying out on the way down. The summit area had some slippery ledge. |
