Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks Mt. Liberty, Mt. Flume, NH
Trails
Trails: Bike path, Liberty Spring Trail, Franconia Ridge Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Tuesday, July 15, 2025
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: We parked at the south end of the lot for Liberty Spring, at the end of Gorge Rd. That name appears on Google Maps, but I've not seen any street sign. It is right off route US-3, and just past the bigger lot for the Flume; the sign indicates it is the lot for the Liberty Spring Trail.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Not much water running. Other than minor drainage streams, some of which were dry, the only stream on LS that might be a trickier rock hop at times was a simple rock hop today.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails are in good shape. I don't recall any blowdowns across the trail anywhere.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I saw just one; it ignored me, tending to business moving along the trail.
Bugs
Bugs: We did apply DEET at the start, but I don't recall seeing any mosquitoes. No bites. There were numerous flies of some sort in places.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Someone lost a very nice cowboy type hat along the stretch of LS between the tent site and the ridge junction. Someone ahead of us evidently picked it up and placed it prominently on a branch at the side of the trail. I forgot to look for it on thw way down later.

Comments
Comments: Nice OTHH outing. The really warm temps weren't until we were back down low, not far above the bike path. Starting early takes advantage of the cooler woods after whatever overnight cooling there is.
