One area near the Cedar Swamp, but it has a bridge you can go over. One other spot by the swamp that is only passable during winter due to flooded trail. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Santa Claus trail has some blowdowns but you can easily get around them. Trails are pretty well marked too. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw a couple that appeared to be enjoying themselves. |
|
 | Bugs: |
Nasty, Nasty, Nasty!!! The bugs were terrible on the trails. We highly recommend bug spray, face net and our new favorite weapon, bug zappers. |
|
 | Lost and Found: |
There is a retractable dog leash at the sign post for Rabbitat Rd and Cottontail Trail. |

 | Comments: |
We really enjoyed our time this week at the Samuel A Tamposi Water Supply Reserve. Except for going up Mt. Ripley (342') most of the trails are somewhat flat, the trail to the summit was not bad either. It would be a great place for a family day of hiking. Tibbitts cemetery is showing its age and the head stone for little Alice Lydia Choate in the cellar hole is a little wierd and sad. We did over six miles on our visit and we went back and did another three miles this week. We saw hardly anyone on the trail. We had the place to ourselves. It was a perfect day with the exception of the BUGS!!! We did post our usual video of our hike for anyone who is interested in seeing what the trails and the area is like...just click the link. |
