Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: all done with rock hops at this low water level.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Guinea Pond trail very overgrown in powerline clearing and near the beaver ponds. Hard to follow at the northern beaver pond. Blazes needed here and in the powerline clearing. This trail is not in the Wilderness. One very large blowdown on Flat Mountain Pond Tr, near Gleason - good to sit on for lunch.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: great hike for Fido. Keep in mind the presence of bear. I saw one near the trail on Flat Mountain Pond trail east of the pond.
Bugs
Bugs: present but not bad on this trip. Mosquitos and deer flies.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: none

Comments
Comments: Great overnight exploring the southern end of the WMNF. Flat Mountain Pond shelter is a great spot to spend a night, but looks like it gets plenty of use, so plan wisely. Very new composting Privy. There are bear in the area, so cook, eat and store food away from your camp. The bear I spotted near the trail east of the shelter turned tail when I spoke to it.
