Comments
Comments: It was an epic day to be on the ridge. Clear skies and tons of sun. There were quite a few people out today as expected with the weather being perfect. It was midweek so it wasn't a zoo like it would've been if it was weekend. Trail conditions were great! All water crossings were easily rock hoppable, dry trail, there were a few muddy spots along Old Bridal Path which were easily navigated. Keep in mind, there is a lot of trail maintenance going on along the lower 1.5 miles of OBP. They are re-routing a lot of the trail here due to erosion. They are also re-routing the sections along the waterfalls along Falling Waters Trail farther into the woods away from the falls. When complete the trail will no longer follow along the falls, due to severe erosion and to many people getting hurt along this section. There will be a spur path created to Cloudland Falls. This is what I was told. It is sad this is happening because the route now is beautiful, but I understand why it must be done. It was my GF's first time hiking a 4K. She crushed it and had a smile on her face the whole way and not one complaint. It felt great to be hiking in the White's again since last fall when I hiked Isolation.
