Another Saturday treat. Cool temps, ( actually chilly in the AM) low humidity made for outstanding hiking weather. However all the views were hazy from the Canadian fires and got more hazy as the day progressed. On the way down Airline had a hard time seeing Crag Camp right across King's Ravine.
Now there were lots of people out enjoying the day. I guess this corresponds to the full condition of Appalachia parking. Everyone seemed enthusiastic to be above the trees for the day.
Trails were dry, very little mud. Great conditions except for the wasps ? on the summit of Adams, they are an unfortunate distraction after working so hard to get to the top. In the least they are annoying, and you don't know if they're going to sting you. Why only on Adams ? Nothing on Jefferson last Wednesday, and nothing on Madison today. |
