Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: We are the Isolation Trail and Davis Path (Glen Boulder to Isolation Summit Spur) trail adopters. This trip we worked Isolation West and Davis from Iso West to the summit. We’ll be back later in the summer for Isolation East and Davis to Glen Boulder. We cleared over 20 blowdowns and left a handful of ones too big for our saw. We at least made those easier to get over or under though. We brushed and cleared waterbars too.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Lucy is 9 and was pretty sore by the end. It was pushing it on hot temps, but there is plenty of water until Davis Path. We brought lots of extra for her for that portion.
Bugs
Bugs: Lots!
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Found an orange camp shovel with a name written on it with sharpie. Message me with the name and I’ll mail it to you!

Comments
Comments: Dry River Trail is getting pretty sketchy. First of all, the “cornice” over the landslide soon after the wilderness sign collapsed. The trail went over the part that collapsed up until last year. I guess that’s safer now that the trail is re-routed!

Worse is the side section at about 3.5miles which is after the first official campsite. Before you cross the first slide, there is a muddy ridge with a 20-30 foot drop to steep rocks. It’s a true no fall zone and the sketchiest official trail section I’ve ever seen in the whites. It’s doable but if it’s raining this is ridiculously dangerous.

A new slide (3rd one) opened up in this zone too. It’s massive. Pretty sketchy to cross but not as bad as the part I mentioned above. I love Dry River so much but it’s getting crazy. And other than the slides, it’s actually in really good shape for a wilderness trail!

It was awesome to meet WAUMBEK! When talking to him I knew he must have been someone I knew of, and after seeing his trip report from this weekend now it makes sense: I’ve read probably hundreds of his trip reports over the years!
