 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Appalachia was perhaps 3/4 full at 7am, with some street-side vehicles still parked from the weekend. We did find places to park in the lot easily enough. There still were quite a few vehicles parked at 7pm. |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
None this route. Even all but one drainage stream were dry, and that one low down on Valley Way was a walk-across. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trails are in good shape. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
We saw none. Others have commented on how rough the rocks above treeline are on dog's feet. |
|
 | Bugs: |
I think most of bug season is behind us. We did not apply anything and for the most part saw none. Up high on Airline, out of the trees, I did get a sudden sting on a finger from something small, too small to be a bee. |

 | Comments: |
Despite the warmth and humidity, this was a great midweek day for this hike. Up above treeline we had a nice breeze, which felt very nice for such a long part of the hike above treeline. There was quite a bit of activity at the hut, with many there for an overnight stay. This loop we did was only ten miles of trail, but, gee, that 5000 ft of elevation gain puts this one right up there in difficulty. |
