Comments
Comments: I cobbled together a loop of Crosby and Tenney. I don’t see any reports of anyone doing this and I don’t know how much effort it saved, but it does avoid the ski area entirely. I didn’t see any posted land anywhere. Starting from the town forest, the trail over Bald Knob to Crosby is signed and blazed in orange. It was almost 4 miles one way. From the summit I whacked down through some logged areas, some slash and hobblebush but not too bad. I took the wind farm road up to the ridge for a couple miles. I could see the summit and had to whack through more slash and raspberries to the jar. Then I whacked through some very tight saplings SW of the last windmill, which opened up into ok woods, then I eventually hit various grassy snowmobile trails. I heard a moose close by. I almost wanted pants here due to raspberries but toughed it out in shorts. I took the switchback trail down to Tenney Lane, which is a road that cars can drive on. I didn’t see any cars but walked it back to the paved roads - Braley rd to Groton Rd where someone stopped and offered me a ride for the last half mile. It was very hot out and I’d spent a few hours paddling on the river earlier in the day so was tired.
