The small lot was busy this morning at 8:30. I got one of the last two spots then someone zipped in right after me. |

Zero water anywhere. Carry what you need. |

Extensive erosion and trail creep on both the lower ascent below the ledges and the upper ascent above the ridge. So much so that rock water bars and steps are being compromised. Blazes need to be repainted. |

If I could have picked "arid trail" above, I would have. We need some rain. Footing not on ledges was dry and dusty.
This was a mostly straightforward ascent made more difficult by the high humidity and smoke from the Canadian wildfires. This smoke put a ghostly haze on even the nearby mountains. Still, always a great experience up here. The fire lookout interior is in good shape and clean for overnight guests.
Looks like the early birds were the ones in the lot as several folks were heading down and I was ascending. |
