Comments
Comments: I hit the Stony Brook Trail at 7 am. The trail up to the peak is broken out. The lower portion of the Stony Brook Trail is hard packed so I just used Microspikes. The upper portion, where it begins to get steep, was softer so I switched to snowshoes and took advantage of the televators.

When I got to the intersection of the Carter-Moriah trail, it was only broken out to Mt. Moriah. The other trails are not broken out including Carter-Moriah south to the Carters. It was a warm day. The Carter-Moriah trail is more exposed to the sun so the snow was wet and my snowshoes were balling up. The Carter-Moriah trail is too soft to bareboot. Snow on the trees was melting so I was getting rained on and/or hit with piles of snow.

The Kenduskeag Trail also has not been broken out. The Carter-Moriah Trail to Mt Suprise appears to have been broken out since the last snow storm, but not since the last couple snow falls. It may still be winter, but it was spring hiking today.
