Comments
Comments: Two healthy and hearty adults made the trek. Gradual ascent to Jackson (2hr) where there was quite the view, though somewhat diminished by smoke/haze. Easy skip down and through to Webster (arguably better views, though less room to share with other hiking picnicking peeps). While the jaunt down the Webster Branch was relatively enjoyable, there is a large (~20" diameter?) dead tree down across the path (about waist-level) at around .4mi north of the Jackson-Webster junction which has caused a bit of misery; one in our hiking party attempted to skirt round the obstacle, slipped, and dislocated their shoulder. Twas a rough trudge out of the woods, but we were thankful for wilderness medicine training from the AMC to get us through. Another down tree on the Webster Branch at the Silver Cascades water crossing, though this one is relatively easy to get over. Overall a fabulous hike, if we overlook the environmental and skeletal disturbances.
