Comments
Comments: All primary trails well packed and bare bootable (microspikes help). Went up Manning to Firescrew and Mowglis to Cardigan. Traction helpful on upper ledges on both peaks. Final ledges to Cardigan summit a bit tricky but reasonable with traction. Group behind us all made it up bare booted (not sure how). Took West Ridge off of summit with intention to go Skyline to Orange Mt. West Ridge trail well packed below summit. Traction definitely needed down ledges. Skyline trail unbroken from West Ridge junction. Put snowshoes on here and found our way through the .2 section to next junction. Blazes don't start till near next junction - stay straigh on obvious path till blazes. Skyline appeared to be unbroken for the remainder of the 1mi to Orange Mt so we went back up to South Summit, past high cabin and back down Clark, Cathedral Forest and Holt to lodge. Left the snowshoes on the rest of the way down but bare boot would have been fine.
