Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There are 3 stepovers between the Milk Brook junction and Rogers Ledge, on the Kilkenny Ridge Trail. There are 2 stepovers inside the FPA on the Mill Brook Trail. All are easy to get over and none appear new. Also see comments below.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: This is a terrific trail for dogs as the first 2ish miles parallel the brook with lots of chances for splashing, and the trail itself is mostly soil with minimal rocks. There is no scrambling on this route, and the steep stuff near the summit has stone stairs and well defined soil crevices for the paws. My pupper had herself a day and we saw one other dog that was just as gleeful!
Bugs
Bugs: Yep. They were in the sunny spots and the muddy spots, with a whole lot of them in the sunny muddy spots.

Comments
Comments: This is my third jaunt to Rogers Ledge and I just can’t convince myself that I love the view. The Prezis are visible but seem really far away. Because they are. LOL. However Mill Brook Trail is an absolute dream to hike so this one is all about the journey. The trail design is fabulous, because how great is it to hike alongside a babbling brook? There are no steep sections until just below the summit and those are mostly handled with stone steps. The icing on the cake, however, is the amazeballs trailwork recently done on this trail. Holy smokes people, there is saw and axe work visible and a truly impressive amount of brushing. Whoever you are, I am sending you hugs, because it is absolutely marvelous!!
On the downside we found a recent campfire site right at the summit. Fire risk is currently “very high” and there was a lot of brush and dead stuff piled on and around where this fire was. I cleaned it up as best I could. Sigh. So dangerous.
