 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Stairs through out are good and sturdy but the first steps needed to be lower. Waterbars need some work, al ot of them have butting edges and jot overlapping. A lot of blow downs between Eliza shelter and Cannon. Some minor others not. Woods planks in this section also need replacing, I noticed some nice thick new ones too. Kinsman trail going up to Cannon has been a mess for years and getting worse. Half constructed waterbars and severely lacks drianage. |

Dropped the bicycle off at Cannon Tramway lot and then parked the car at Beaver Brook. It was dark and stale, nothing was moving, no leaves quivering, no breezes, no bugs or critters or chirping or bird calls. Eerily quiet and still and then something big, ran, stomping away in the swamp.
All the muddy spots were soft and squishy. The sticker on the lookout sign is accurate. I didn't see anyone until almost Eliza Brook. The southern half is a pretty chill hike. The closer to Cannon the trail eventually gets tough. Tons of people on the lookout. Some brave tourists were hiking up and down the ascent to/from the tramway lot.
The hard part was riding back up 112 to Beaver Brook. The bike chain bound up and slipped off. I was glad to get off and fix it. It was 2-3pm and I was in full sun. The cyclists riding down, in the shade were probably thinking what I was thinking, "why?" |
