Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Pretty dry but three new bridges if water returns. Baker River West Branch had water but it is a destination not a crossing.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails in great condition, with signs, paint blazings, nice forest beds and open corridors. Two short stretches with some low ferns and grasses encroaching on Park's Railroad. Three new bridges. A few bog bridge planks are decaying but at the moment the other in a pair is fine and there's no mud anyway. The interpretive panels are mostly readable but could use a cleaning in places. The many picnic tables on different trails and occasional bench are well weathered but still functional.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: 4 paws up from mine. The trails were dry but dogs can get a drink at the Baker River West Branch.
Bugs
Bugs: None
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: None

Comments
Comments: I didn't find any trail reports for these trails so I figured I'd put one in. There's no peaks or vistas, so I'm not afraid of encouraging overuse but the trail creators, managers and maintainers deserve kudos. These trails are a splendid walk in the park, well designed and in good condition, in a nice forest. It looks like the system got a freshening this summer, with the new bridges, paint blazes and even some mowing. I'd suggest doing the interpretive trails (Park's Railroad & Bridal Path) first to pick up a little history and then do the hiking trails. The bike trails look like good hiking as well so when we have another short window of time we'll do those and check back on the Baker River here when it's flow is high. It looks like good snowshoeing in the winter too.
