Parking for about 15, fee free lot, no facilities |

|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Just a trickle at first crossing 1/4 mile in and the same at the bridged crossing, but water was flowing and not stagnant |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trail free and clear. I don’t remember the signage with arrows on the newer reroute over the boulders 2 years ago but they’re helpful, particularly with the fair amount of early leaf fall from the stressed trees. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Fine for most dogs |
|
 | Bugs: |
YELLOW JACKETS: yellow jackets were a regular presence on the upper half of the trail and at the summit. Not overwhelming, not swarming, but enough to keep you on your toes. The summit seemed busier with bees than the trail, and it’s hard to enjoy the view when you’re constantly looking out for a stinger. One in our party was stung when we stopped on the way up. I’ve been on this trail numerous times over the years and don’t remember this as a problem before. The summit has always had its share of aggravating bugs, but not stingers. |

This time of year I look for trail reports with mentions of bees/wasps so I can save those trails for another day. Oh well.
Brisk morning start with fleeces on, but we shed those after about 20 minutes. Beautiful day in the woods and above treeline. Nice breeze up top. One of the finest views anywhere for the effort.
Very quiet in the woods - heard no birds except an Eastern Pe-wee (sp) down low in the same area when ascending and descending, nothing more. Seems a bit early for this silence. |
