Comments
Comments: The trail is not gated, just says no ATVs or cars. I took the skidder path to the right, not the way I planned to go but it got me up to the ridge. The footing was poor but better than the woods I suppose. I then turned south to bushwhack but found myself in a large logged area with surprisingly good footing, it must have been logged last fall. Some thicker softwoods at the summit but found the jar quickly. Good woods down to the col, I was almost running it was so nice. Things soon got thick again on the ascent up Mill, with dead needles raining down from every tree. This was truly one of the thickest summits I’ve fought through on this list so far. Once I finally found the correct bump and signed in, it was relatively quick to get down to the trail. Someone had cut all the saplings in the lower woods though, leaving dangerous stumps and slash everywhere to trip on. That seemed odd. On the jog back on the grassy trail the deer flies were quite bad. The loop was 6 miles and took me 2.5 hours. Not a favorite hike, but the route was efficient, except for finding that summit on Mill. I might avoid coming from the north if you don’t like getting scratched up. Sometimes I like pushing through that thick stuff though, and it did save the elevation of doing 2 hikes for these silly summits.
