Conditions: I started from the old trail portion in the home plan, so I by-passed the first major crossing, but I'm sure it's snow-bridged over. The upper crossings have good snow-bridges.
I wore Hillsounds car to car today. A dusting on new powder down low to 2" - 3" of new fluffy powder up on the ridge. Trail was hard packed from the re-freeze overnight. All previous tracks were covered over by the new snow. I stepped off the hard pack a few times and there is no support. One tricky section on the ledges had some crusted ice that needed caution. No blow-downs to speak of. Snow started to soften a bit on the descent.
I didn't see anyone else until I was almost back to the car (Noon time). Just four overnighters headed up to Imp and beyond. Can't believe it being a Sat. and such a beautiful sunny blue sky day with no wind. |
