Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Things are so dry that the first water crossing is not actually a water crossing. It’s a few tiny pools of water.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: No issues!!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: This route has scrambles, but is a great route for dogs that like to scramble. This is the USFS regulation, at the kiosk at the trailhead: “WHILE IN DEVELOPED AREAS (CAMPGROUNDS, TRAILHEADS, PICNIC AREAS) DOGS MUST BE ON A LEASH. OUTSIDE OF THESE DEVELOPED AREAS, THEY MUST BE LEASHED OR UNDER VOICE CONTROL.” This does NOT mean that you can allow your 70lb+ Rottweiler to run up to my leashed dog and I, growling and baring its teeth, while you half-heartedly call to it from 75’ away, and while you tell me that “controlling a dog is not required.” Umm. Yes it is.
Bugs
Bugs: None!!

Comments
Comments: My pup Echo, and I, hiked to the Chocorua summit via Champney and Piper. We do hike this regularly but almost never go to the summit because I don’t love the final scramble. However everything is bone dry and there was little wind, so we did! Then we headed over to Middle Sister, for its unique perspective on similar views. Footing is fast, right now, and it’s a great time to hike anything scrambly (ie before dry leaves make things slippery!)
